Homemade Remedies On How To Get Rid Of Pimples - Be Your Own Doctor

Nothing could be more annoying than to find a pimple on your face one fine morning. It becomes worse if it happens before a big event, which you have to attend. There are some homemade remedies on how to get rid of pimples, which give quick results and are easy to apply.

Some Homemade Remedies

Always remember never handle a pimple. The pimple becomes more inflamed. Handling spreads bacteria and germs, which caused the pimple, to other parts of the face and may cause scars.

Every half an hour hold an ice pack against the pimple for 2 minutes to reduce the inflammation. Holding a tea bag or a cotton ball dabbed in lemon juice against the pimple can also reduce the inflammation. A dab of toothpaste (not gel) applied before going to bed can also be soothing.

Apply a cream or ointment containing benzene peroxide or salicylic acid on the pimple or your entire face. Don’t apply too much as these creams can dry the skin. Don’t use it if your skin is sensitive.

If you have no time for remedies and want to hide the pimple then cover the pimple with a flesh colored concealer. The concealer also hides the oily shine.

Wash your face 2 or 3 times a day with lukewarm salted water. Do not use soap as it dries the skin and may aggravate the pimple. Lukewarm salted water removes the oil without drying the skin too much.

You may also use unscented soap or a specialized acne cleanser at home that contains no harsh chemicals such as lye. Gently scrub the skin dry with a soft cloth. Hard rubbing might let out the skin’s natural oil, which helps contain the spread of the pimples.

Whenever possible wear an oil free make up. They prevent pimple build up that cause scars. Remove the make up every night and clean the face with an acne-fighting medicine to remove oil, dirt and bits of make up from within the skin.

Eat lots of fruit and vegetables and drink lots of water. Garlic Juice with 3 parts water is an excellent cleansing agent. Raw garlic applied (rubbed) on the face can make persistent pimples disappear without a scar with repeated applications.

Following these tips will get you results within a few days. If your pimples are a recurring problem then drinking lots of water, proper diet and facial masks are the long-term remedies. In case of major outbreaks consult a doctor for specialist advice.

Acne Scar Removal - The Whole Truth

Do you avoid mirrors and hide your face because of ugly acne scars? Acne is a common problem among people of all ages, especially teenagers. Perhaps your skin has cleared up and you are left with embarrassing scars that you don't know how to get rid of. It could effect you psychologically as well as emotionally. Luckily for you, there are various treatments for acne scar removal.

The first step you should take in this process is to consult a dermatologist. Acne scar removal procedures have become very common. Remember when choosing a method of removal, consider the condition of your skin. If you have sensitive skin you should try the least abrasive procedure available. Acne scar removal is the key to regaining smooth and healthy looking skin.

Some acne scar removal options are dermabrasion, collagen injections, steroid injections, laser treatment, radiotherapy, or chemical peels. Some treatments may not completely remove all scars but the appearance of most of them will lessen dramatically. Your doctor's recommendation toward a certain procedure depends on the type and severity of the scarring.

Dermabrasion is a procedure done under local anesthetic in which the doctor will remove the top layers of skin with a sanding instrument. It is one of the most effective treatments available for facial scar removal. It is not recommended for people with darker skin because it could reveal lighter layers of skin, which could cause another problem with your appearance.

Collagen injections are a less permanent solution to acne scars. They generally last from 3-6 months and require future injections to maintain their effect.

Steroid injections are a long term treatment for acne scar removal. The side effects of this procedure are minimal, but there is a chance that the scars will still remain visible.

Laser treatment is still in an experimental phase. The use of a vasecular laser may fade the color of scars. A carbon dioxide laser may flatten scars and resurface the skin, however this effect is not definite. This procedure is not recommended due to the uncertainty in the safety of the treatment.

Radiotherapy is a controversial treatment and is only recommended for extreme cases. It is used to prevent the reoccurrence of severe scarring. The long-term side effects, even in the small doses of this treatment, is the risk of cancer induced by radiation.

A chemical peel is a minor form of surgery that can be done by a cosmetologist. This is usually the solution to getting rid of minor scarring. A layer of skin is removed by the application of chemicals. Afterwards, a new layer of skin can form and reduce your scars.

For some people, more than one type of treatment is necessary for the best outcome. Each person's face and skin are different and it is necessary to research these and other procedures available for you. Realistically, some people may not get rid of the appearance of scars completely.

Choosing the right dermatologist is as important as choosing your treatment. Qualifications and experience are key factors to look at. You can read about a dermatologist in any area online (www.IEnhance.com/physician). Acne scar removal can get expensive so you shouldn't rush to give your money to just anyone. A good doctor will work closely with you to get your skin appearing as clear and smooth as possible.

Acne - The 7 Common Acne Myths Are Discussed

While growing up, you've probably heard of the many speculations and myths about acne. There are numerous myths about the causes as well as treatment for acne. Not surprisingly, you probably grew up not really knowing the cause and the correct treatment for acne. If you are not suffering from acne, you wouldn't really care but once you are afflicted of this pesky skin disease, you'd likely care a lot.

The Lowdown on Acne

Acne is a skin disorder. It is caused by the activities of hormones and skin elements like your hair follicles and the skin's oil glands. It appears almost everywhere on the skin surface but primarily on the face, neck, chest, back and shoulders.

In order to properly treat acne, you should know the myths surrounding this skin disease. It is a good idea to visit your dermatologist the minute you are plagued with acne to receive proper treatment. Your dermatologist will probably enlighten you to the truth, what causes it and how to treat it.

7 Common Acne Myths

There are actually many kinds of myths about acne. Here are some of them:

1) Frequent washing eliminates zits. Admittedly, while frequent washing may get rid of the bacteria and oil on the skin. It also causes skin aridness which may also cause frequent acne breakouts.

2) Avoid makeup or shaving if you want to prevent acne. You don't have to totally forego using cosmetics. You just have to learn how to choose your cosmetic products properly. Look for brands that are labeled noncomedogenic or nonacnegenic. You can also shave. Just make sure that you do it properly and with good razors so you'd avoid nicking your skin and causing allergies or irritations.

3) Poor hygiene triggers or causes zits. This might be true to some people but most people who suffer zits are actually quite hygienic. In fact, they almost aggravate their zits more with frequent washing. They develop some sort of obsession to cleanliness.

4) Tanning helps cure the condition. In truth, tanning does not help treat acne. In fact, it may actually aggravate the condition. You may also developed allergy from the chemicals used in tanning.

5) Pimples is caused by greasy foods and chocolate. There is actually no scientific proof to this old myth. There is no proof that pizza, cheese burgers and French fries cause acne. Of course, there may be some people who experience acne breakouts with certain foods like chocolates. People's bodies react differently to foods.

6) Stress causes acne. You need to differentiate the type of stress that may or may not cause pimples. Day-to-day stressors do not cause acne. However, severe stress that requires medical intervention or treatment may indeed cause pimples breakouts.

7) Let the condition run its course. Often, people suffering from acne, especially teenagers, are advised to let their affliction just run its course. "It's natural for your age!" Well, perhaps it is but it can be treated and it can clear up with treatment. You don't have to bear with it for a long time and you don't have to risk scars from developing. You can seek treatment for it the minute the condition gets out of hand or even before then.

Acne - Is It Contagious?

Acne is one of the most common disorders that trouble us. Many of us get acne even when we grow up. Acne spoils our looks and affects our confidence. The scars are as bad and make us self-conscious. Can acne be contagious? Should we keep away from acne sufferers?

Acne - is it contagious or not?

For any diseases or condition to be contagious, there has be an agent that is passed on from one person to another. Like in ringworm, where one can pass on the fungus and affect another person. Acne causes have nothing that can be passed on from one person to another. There is nothing that we can catch from others and that will cause acne on our skin.

Acne - Causes

Acne is caused by the excess production of sebum that is hormonal. The gland block that forms and makes the sebum remain inside is only dead skin and is also caused by hormonal and other unknown reasons. The bacteria P.acnes that inflames the acne is found on the skin of all of us. None of these three reasons for causing acne can be passed on. So acne is not contagious.

Acne and Related Disorders

Acne is a disorder that involves the hair-oil (pilosebaceous) apparatus of the skin. Acne vulgaris or common acne (referred to herein as adolescent acne) begins in the teen or preteen years. In general, it becomes less active as adolescence ends, but it may continue into adulthood. Acne that initially occurs in adulthood is designated post adolescent acne or adult-onset acne.

Despite the clinical similarities and occasional overlapping of adolescent and post adolescent acne, the pathogenesis and treatment of each are often different.

Acne-like disorders, such as neonatal acne, drug induced acne, rosacea, and other so-called acne form conditions, are also considered separate entities because of differences in pathogenesis and treatment.

CLASSIFICATION OF ACNE:

Adolescence acne (Acne Vulgaris). Preteen acne and adolescent acne (which may persist into adulthood).
Post adolescent Acne
Female adult-onset acne.
Female adult-onset acne concurrent with adolescent acne that has persisted into adulthood.
Postmenopausal acne.
Endocrinopathic acne.
Male adult-onset acne (rare).

In addition, the following are acne disorders:
Folliculitis.
Hidradenitis suppurativa.
Pseudofolliculitis barbae.
Acne keloidalis.
Neonatal acne.
Rosacea.
Perioral dermatitis.
Drug-induced acne.
Physically induced and occupational acne.

INFLAMMATORY LESIONS
Papules: Superficial red bumps ("zits") that may have crusted. Scabbed surfaces caused by picking or squeezing.
Pustules: Superficial raised lesions containing purulent material, generally found in the company of papules.
Nodules: Large, deep papules or pustules.

"Cysts:" Acne "cysts" are not really cysts. True cysts are neoplasms that have an epithelial lining. Acne "cysts" do not have an epithelial lining; they are composed of poorly organized, variously shaped and blackhead or whitehead. Alternatively, the microcomedo may become an inflammatory lesion, such as a papule or pustule. The development of inflammatory lesions is theoretically as follows: Androgenic hormones stimulate sebaceous glands to increase in size and function and thus to produce more sebum (oil). The skin becomes oilier and the microcomedo becomes more hospitable to the anaerobe Propionibacterium acnes.

No inflammatory lesions:
The combination of open and closed comedones, as seen here, is most common in younger patients.
Sized conglomerations are inflammatory material.
Macules: The remains of formerly palpable inflammatory lesions that are in the process of healing from therapy or spontaneous resolution. They are flat, red or sometimes purple blemishes that slowly heal and may occasionally form a depressed (atrophic) scar.

COMEDONAL (NONINFLAMMATORY) LESIONS

A comedo is a collection of sebum and keratin that forms within follicular ostia (pores).
Open comedones (blackheads) have large ostia that are black not from dirt but from melanin.
Closed comedones (whiteheads) have small ostia. A combination of both inflammatory and comedonal acne is most commonly seen in younger patients.
